IT IS WITH DEEP REGRET I MUST INFORM YOU OF THE DEATH OF MAVIS GRISTOCK AFTER A BRAVE BATTLE AGAINST A SEVERE LUNG COMPLAINT. OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO TO HER HUSBAND GORDON AND ALL THE FAMILY AT THIS SAD TIME.
MAVIS (COUNTESS OF RODWAY) REALLY ENJOYED BEING A 'RED HATTER' - AFTER ALL, PURPLE WAS HER FAVOURITE COLOUR! DESPITE HER CONDITION, MAVIS WAS DETERMINED TO CONTINUE TO BE AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE GROUP. WE SHALL MISS HER LOVELY SMILE, SENSE OF FUN AND HER TOTAL COMMITMENT TO THE IDEA OF 'GROWING OLD DISGRACEFULLY'.

Hi there, and welcome to the Cotswold Gems website, we are based in and around the Cotswold villages of Chipping Sodbury, Yate, Frampton Cotterell and Coalpit Heath and draw members from the cities of Bristol and Bath, oh and we even have a member from Wales.
We are members of the Red Hat Society you probably have seen us about dressed in purple clothes with red hats. Our aim in life is to grow old disgracefully - and the Gems are extremely good at this. The rules of the Red Hat Society are - there are no rules, regulations, committees or Minutes. But you must have a silly red hat 'royal' name.
Our Queen / First Lady (yes she has two names) is Margo who is ruler of disorder and mayhem and between you and me is usually right at the back when we get into trouble (which is quite frequently) even though we ALL know Margo probably caused it.
